Jan Vertonghen played 90 minutes for Belgium on Wednesday night – and the Tottenham supporters were critical of his performance on Twitter.
Roberto Martinez’s side recorded a 1-1 away draw against Holland in an international friendly, but Vertonghen was at fault for the goal they conceded.
The Spurs defender was penalised in the first-half for pulling on Jermain Lens’ shirt in the penalty area, with Davy Klaassen converting the resulting spot kick.
Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco scored an equaliser in the second-half as both teams prepare for upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.
Spurs fans voiced their frustration about Vertonghen’s mistake while on international duty and feel he often makes sloppy errors.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Concussion for Janssen and Vertonghen gives away a penalty! Success for our boys internationally again!

Vertonghen loves pulling the kits. He does it all the time. Was very lucky in the NLD

Vertonghen is regarded as one of the most consistent performers in the Spurs defence and has played every minute of their current Premier League campaign.
The 29-year-old completed a move to White Hart Lane in 2012 from Dutch from Ajax and has built a formidable partnership alongside compatriot Toby Alderweireld.
The centre-back has racked up 177 appearances for Spurs and has received just one card in that time.
