Marcus Edwards set up two goals as Tottenham under-19’s were beaten 3-2 by their CSKA Moscow counterpart on Tuesday afternoon – and supporters wanted to see more of the youngster.
The 17-year-old playmaker was featuring in the UEFA Youth League and assisted two goals for striker Reo Griffiths, before CSKA struck late on to deny the north London club a point.
Edwards had previously received high praise from club manager Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine comparing him to Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
Supporters echoed their managers thoughts and labelled the youngster “Messi” when he made a run down the right hand side, whipped in a cross and set up teammate Griffiths for his second of the night.
The White Hart Lane supporters were full of praise for the winger by expressing the ease in which he was going past defenders.
Fans praised the teenager’s link-up play during the game, in particular with striker Griffiths, who bagged two goals in the game.
One supporter stated he now wants to see more of the Tottenham sensation, with Edwards having made his senior debut in the 5-0 thrashing of Gillingham in the EFL Cup from the substitutes bench.
