Tottenham fans have shown their appreciation on Twitter after defender Ben Davies played an integral part in Wales’ 1-1 draw against Georgia.

The Spurs left footer was defensively astute as his nation cemented their place at the top of Group D in Europe’s 2018 World Cup qualifying stage.

Former Tottenham star Gareth Bale put Chris Coleman’s side into the lead, as he rose highest to head home a Joe Ledley corner in the first half.

Davies, playing as left-sided centre-back alongside captain Ashley Williams and James Chester, played the full 90 minutes as Wales lifted their points tally to five in the group stage.

Spurs fans were impressed with their left-back, with some saying Davies is too good to be acting as Danny Rose’s understudy at White Hart Lane.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Davies was a starring member for the shock Wales team who reached the semi-finals at Euro 2016, before losing to winners Portugal.

The 23-year-old is entering his third season with north London side Tottenham this season, after moving from Swansea back in the summer of 2014. Davies has made 62 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since the move in all competitions.

In other Tottenham news, Pochettino could bring this fellow countryman to White Hart Lane.
