Moussa Sissoko came off the bench to create the winning goal for Tottenham in their 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday – and Spurs fans took to Twitter to hail his display.

The France international has been heavily criticised by pundits and supporters alike since joining Tottenham for£30million from Newcastle in the summer.

But he is starting to get supporters on side and they were impressed by his performance after replacing Mousa Dembele at the 62-minute mark in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

But there was also a strong element of controversy to Sissoko’s cameo as he caught Stephen Ward on the thigh with a studs-high challenge one minute before breaking free on the edge of the box to feed Danny Rose for the winning goal.

Burnley felt Sissoko should have been sent off for his attempted tackle, but referee Kevin Friend saw the incident and chose not to take any action. Football Association rules dictate no retrospective action can be taken if the referee sees the incident.

Tottenham fans believe the Frenchman is starting to have an impact on the team and praised him in the wake of his contentious contribution against Burnley.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Goals from Dele Alli and Rose helped Tottenham come from a goal down to beat Burnley and secure their second home win of the week.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side cemented their fifth spot in the Premier League table and they are now just three points adrift of Manchester City in second.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs fans on Twitter claim the club have unearthed their next superstar.
