Vincent Janssen failed to break his Tottenham duck from open play in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw against Bayer Leverkusen but fans on Twitter were impressed with his all-round performance.
Janssen led the line for 65 minutes of the Champions League clash before being replaced by midfielder Mousa Dembele.
The summer signing from AZ Alkmaar hit the crossbar with one shot as he came close to scoring only his second goal for the club.
Janssen has netted just once in 12 matches for Spurs, with his only goal a penalty against League One Gillingham in the League Cup.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side remain second in Group E, and have conceded just seven goals in 11 games in all competitions this season. Their only defeat came in the opening group game against Monaco last month.
Fans took to social media to give their verdicts on Janssen’s display against Leverkusen.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Janssen can feel aggrieved to have been subbed very good showing tonight. Lost all attacking impact when he left the field #COYS
