Tottenham fans were left wondering on Twitter why centre-back Kevin Wimmer has been frozen out at the club after he was left out of the squad again for the Bayer Leverkusen clash.
The 23-year-old Austria international has struggled for first team football after playing in 22 encounters for the north London club in the last campaign.
It had been assumed that he might have been presented with an opportunity of a run in the team following an injury to star centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
However, he has made just two EFL Cup starts for the club with Mauricio Pochettino favouring Eric Dier over the former Cologne man.
He has even struggled to make the bench with the Argentine boss favouring young prospect Cameron Carter-Vickers as the back-up to Spurs defensive duo.
Fans on social media were wondering why Wimmer has not hardly featured in the new campaign with there not being much of an explanation to his constant omission.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

@ArizonaSpurs Wimmer chose his words carefully and took them to the media. He sealed his own fate.

Spurs will go into their clash against Leverkusen in second place and a point above their German counterparts.
They will be hoping that advantage at Wembley will provide them with a boost after they played out a 0-0 draw earlier in the month.
