Tottenham have been told that Serie A winger Domenico Berardi will not be leaving Sassulo this summer, according to a report.
Spurs are in the market for attacking players this summer and are closely pursuing the likes of Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and Vincent Janssen of AZ Alkmaar.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that versatile Berardi is also in the sights of the Spurs recruitment team after impressing for Sassulo since his £7million transfer from Juventus last summer.
The 21-year-old has been tipped as a star of the future and it was thought he may move onto bigger things during the current transfer window.
But Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims Berardi has told his suitors in Italy and England that he will not be moving.
It is said Juventus have a £19.8million buy-back clause in the deal that took Berardi to Sassulo last summer, while Spurs have been closely monitoring his situation.
The Italy Under-21 international can play in any of the three positions behind the centre-forward, although he is perdominantly used on the right flank by his club.
He had an impressive season in 2015-16, scoring eight goals and supplying eight assists in all competitions, including a creditable seven Serie A strikes.
The Italian believes he needs another season at Sassuolo, where he is guaranteed first-team football and the chance to develop.
Juventus are now trying to restructure a buy-back clause for next summer, while Spurs have also been asked to be kept informed of the player’s movements.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are confident of sealing a £26million deal within weeks.
