Tottenham have increased their offer for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha to £18million but it’s still not being considered, according to a report.
Sport website HITC claims that the south east London club have rejected the second bid from Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Palace chairman Steve Parish dismissed out of hand Spurs’ opening offer of £12million for Zaha last Thursday.
It is claimed that Tottenham will have to get closer to the £25million fee rising to £30million Crystal Palace received from Everton for former winger Yannick Bolasie.
Palace are considering a few possible replacements for Zaha, but with the deadline closing in on Wednesday, they are doubtful Spurs will match their valuation.
However, it is also claimed that the 23-year-old is not happy with his current terms at Sellhurst Park and that talks over a new deal have not accelerated in recent times.
This has alerted Tottenham to the England international with the north London side knowing they can offer him the sort of deal that the former Manchester United winger wants.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Spurs had offered Zaha a double-your-money contract to push through a deal for the winger by Wednesday’s transfer cut-off.
The north London side have offered to double Zaha’s wages to £70,000-a-week in an attempt to reach an agreement with the player should Palace cave in to what will be an improved offer to the Sellhurst Park side.
The north Londoners are prepared to pay around £20million to land the fleet footed winger, who has left Crystal Palace before in a £15million move to Manchester United in 2013.
He only made four appearances during his time at Old Trafford and he was back with Crystal Palace a year later after an initial loan spell for £3million.
The two-time England international impressed for Alan Pardew’s side last season, scoring five goals and producing seven assists in 43 league and cup encounters.
Tottenham have been in the market for a new winger, with Marseille’s Georges N’Koudou edging closer to a move before Wednesday’s deadline.
In Other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs will miss out on Barcelona starlet Munir El Haddadi, as he is set to join Valencia on loan.
