Gary Lineker has admitted his enjoyment at watching Chelsea star Diego Costa, describing the star as “bloody hilarious”.

Lineker, 55, has been critical of the Spain striker in the past after the forward has been involved in a number of high-profile altercations with other players.

The attacker was typically at the centre of the action in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

He scored both goals for the visitors, including a spectacular bicycle kick to level the scores late on, and was booked in the first half.

“Shouldn’t really admit this considering some of his antics,” Lineker said on his personal Twitter account. “But I do enjoy watching Costa. He’s bloody hilarious.”

The forward has scored four goals in Chelsea’s opening four league matches after being handed the spearhead role under new manager Antonio Conte.

The attacker has drawn up an extensive rap sheet in his time in football, clashing with Gabriel, David Luiz, Pablo Zabaleta, Ryan Shawcross and Iker Casillas among others in recent years.

In contrast the Match of the Day pundit was never booked as a player despite playing over 400 games for Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona and Spurs in his career.

The former Tottenham striker will be hoping his side can continue their good run this season.

Spurs have already notched eight points from their first four games against Everton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Stoke.

In other Tottenham news, Mark Hughes could face an FA charge after being sent to the stands in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Stoke on Saturday.
