Tottenham are lining up a move for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj in the January transfer window, according to a report.
The Sunday People claim that Badelj is the subject of Mauricio Pochettino’s interest after he has faced Spurs four times in the last two seasons of the Europe League, as the two sides clashed in consecutive knockout stages.
The report claims that the 27-year-old was wanted by AC Milan in the summer transfer window, but the two clubs were unable to agree a fee for the player.
Spurs are said to be weighing up a £7million move for the services of Badelj, who is a international team-mate of former Spurs stars Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka.
His contract runs until the summer 2018, so unless he agrees a new deal, Fiorentina may be willing to sell the midfielder or risk losing him on a free when his contract expires.
The defensive midfielder had just one club goal to his name in his previous two seasons, but has already got off the mark this season, with a long range strike against Roma, scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory for Fiorentina.
Badelj has 24 appearances for his national side and was a part of Croatia’s Euro 2016 squad. He has just the one goal for the side.
In other Tottenham transfer news, this Spurs senior man is in talks for a move to France.
