Tottenham completed the signing of the summer when they prised Victor Wanyama from Southampton, according to a report.
The Independent claimed in its paper edition on 4th October (page 52) that the Kenya international had made a bigger impact than any other Premier League arrival.
Wanyama delivered a colossal display in Spurs’ 2-0 top-flight win over Manchester City on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side convincingly beat the title favourites and league leaders at White Hart Lane to deliver a huge statement in the title race.
“Wanyama, who signed from Southampton – Pochettino’s former club of course – for £11million in the summer looks like the move of the transfer window,” wrote the Independent report.
Former Saints and Celtic midfielder Wanyama has started all seven of Spurs’ Premier League games in addition to one of their two Champions League fixtures to enable the club to cope without last season’s regular central midfield pairing of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele.
Spurs’ win over City lifted them back to second in the Premier League and enable them to reduce the gap to the pacesetters to a single point.
Pochettino’s youthful team are now the only unbeaten side in the English top flight after accumulating 17 points from their opening seven league matches.
In other Tottenham news, this Spurs duo have been involved in a bust-up.
