Tottenham are ready to splash out £8million on Charlton’s young striker Ademola Lookman, according to a report.

Lookman, 18, broke into the Charlton first-team this campaign and was named the Championship Apprentice of the Year.

The promising striker’s performances have reportedly attracted the gaze of Tottenham and the Daily Star claim that the Londoners are ready to splash out as much as £8million for the youngster.

Charlton were relegated from the Championship last week and are reportedly eager to cash in on their most prized asset as they look to readjust their finances for life in League One.

Lookman has bagged a respectable five goals as well as one assist in his 24 Championship appearances this season.

The striker also popped up to grab the winner against Leeds on April 30 in a rare win for the Addicks.

Lookman has spent his entire career to date with Charlton, but has been tipped for great things and was courted by Tottenham in the last transfer window.

The Daily Star claim that Spurs were eager to tie up a deal for the striker in January, but were told by Charlton they needed Lookman for a relegation escape that never materialised.

Lookman has been mooted to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Joe Gomez, who moved to Liverpool last summer for £3.5million.

Gomez was an instant hit at Anfield, but had his season wrecked by an anterior cruciate ligament injury that ended his campaign just seven matches into his Liverpool career.

The Daily Star claim that Liverpool are also keen on another Charlton raid for Lookman, but have yet to firm up their interest.

Charlton are said to be resigned to losing Lookman to a Premier League club despite the striker’s contract running until 2020.

In other Tottenham news, a Manchester United legend has urged one Spurs star to move to Old Trafford.
