Gary Pallister believes Manchester United will look to entice Harry Kane away from Tottenham in the summer.
The former United defender thinks the Red Devils will look to add fire-power to their frontline in the coming transfer window and has warned Kane that passing up the opportunity to play for United would be “foolish”.
The Tottenham talisman leads the Premier League scoring charts with 25 goals and was at the forefront of Spurs’ title charge this season.
Pallister believes his former club will be keen to lure the Englishman away from White Hart Lane.
“Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski are the kind of players United could look at,” said Pallister speaking to the Daily Star. “There’s a lot of talk about Cristiano Ronaldo too, who’d be a great threat, but you don’t want to stunt the growth of Marcus Rashford.
“He’s come out as if he’s been playing on the big stage for years – and he’s only 18.
“It’s hard to get players if you don’t qualify for the Champions League but if there’s a chance to play for Manchester United, you’d be foolish to pass that up.”
Kane grabbed 21 league strikes last season in his breakthrough campaign for Tottenham and his remarkable consistency over the last two years will mean any move would come at a heavy price for potential suitors.
Tottenham sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £86million in 2013 after he managed 21 league goals from the wing in his final season as a Spurs player.
Kane’s services could demand a similar price tag and United may have to be prepared to smash their transfer record for the second time in as many years after they shelled out £59.7million for Angel Di Maria in 2014.
