Tottenham target Vincent Janssen is preparing for a move to north London as AZ Alkmaar step up plans to secure a replacement, according to a report.

The Express citing De Telegraaf claims that the dutch outfit are readying themselves for life without the 22-year-old striker after holding talks with replacement striker Wout Weghorst.

The 23-year-old has just one year left on his current deal with Heracles Almelo and after scoring 15 goals in 39 appearances last season, Alkmaar view him as a ready-made replacement for the departing Janssen.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday night that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was set to finalise the deal for this season’s Eredivisie Golden Boot winner and now it appears that John van den Brom’s side are trying to source a replacement.

This will be a huge boost to manager Mauricio Pochettino after the club lost out of to Chelsea in their pursuit of Michy Batshuayi, with the striker completing a £33million transfer on Sunday.

The Spurs boss is keen to beef up the his attack after Harry Kane led the front line virtually singlehandedly in the recently completed domestic campaign.

Tottenham have seen off late interest in Janssen from Paris Saint-Germain to land the forward after tabling a series of bids in recent weeks.

Janssen will cost half of Batshuayi but was the top scorer in the Dutch League this season with a virtual goal-a-game haul of 27 goals in 34 games. In all competitions, he struck 32 times in 49 matches.
