Tottenham are in talks with Harry Kane over a new £120,000-a-week contract, according to a report.
The Sunday Express claim Spurs are set to smash their wage ceiling to make Kane the best paid player in the club’s history.
It is said that Kane is close to joining the long list of senior stars who have committed to lucrative long-term contracts.
Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have all agreed new deals with the club in the last fortnight.
The Sunday Express report that Jan Vertonghen, Erik Lamela and Kane are all poised to full suit.
Football Insider revealed in March that Spurs were keen to tie Kane, 23, down to a lucrative new contract that will run until 2021.
It is stated that over the course of a five-year deal it will be worth £31.2million, more than any contract ever handed to a Spurs player.
Kane had a disappointing Euro 2016 but he showed signs of returning to his best form with goals in consecutive matches before suffering ankle ligament damage in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Sunderland a week ago.
He will have another scan on his ankle but it is expected that the White Hart Lane talisman will be sidelined for around two months.
Kane has had two consecutive outstanding seasons for Spurs and topped the Premier League goal charts last season with 25 goals and came third, behind Leicester duo Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, in the PFA Player of the Year award.
