Tottenham remain keen to sign Georges-Kevin N’Koudou from Marseille because they regard him as a star in the making, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim on their website that Spurs are having to renegotiate the N’Koudou-Clinton N’Jie swap deal agreed last month because of a change of ownership at the French giants.
It is said that winger N’Koudou completed a medical and agreed personal terms with Spurs on 19 July, while N’Jie also agreed to go the other way and join Marseille on loan.
The deal was initially delayed because N’Jie had to wait on the renewal of his working visa in France after completing a medical with the Ligue 1 club in London.
N’Jie was granted a work permit on 5 August and is in Paris, while N’Koudou is also waiting to make the move the other way three weeks after Spurs agreed to buy him for £10.8million from Marseille.
Sky report that negotiations are still ongoing as the new owners of the French club have wanted additions made to the deal that was agreed by the previous ownership.
Spurs are confident of sealing the deals and remain keen to land N’Koudou, who Mauricio Pochettino and his staff regard as a potential star of the future.
The 21-year-old joined Marseille from Nantes during last summer and the winger proved to be one of the signings of the Ligue 1 campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists in 41 matches in all competitions.
N’Koudou’s exploits were all the more impressive due to the fact that he was playing for a struggling Marseille side.
N’Jie, 22, joined the White Hart Lane club last summer in a deal worth £14million, but has struggled to break into the Premier League side after suffering injuries and mixed form.
He has made 14 appearances but failed to score a single goal for Spurs after predominantly being used in a wide role.
Mauricio Pochettino has added another forward to his side this summer in the shape of Holland international Vincent Janssen, and N’Jie had found himself further down the pecking order at the club.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Pochettino will listen to offers for seven senior players in the final weeks of the summer window.
