Mousa Dembele and Vincent Janssen face race against time bids to be fit for Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday.
Dembele missed the midweek win over Hull with a foot injury, the latest in a series of minor problems he has suffered from in what has been a protracted season for the Belgian.
Janssen has been absent in recent weeks with an ankle injury and has not had the opportunity to score his first goal for Spurs from open play.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino delivered a team news update on Friday afternoon, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
He revealed they “need to assess [the duo] tomorrow” before making a decision on whether they are available for selection.

If Dembele is fit to return, Pochettino could be faced with a difficult decision on whether to break up the 3-4-3 formation that proved successful in overcoming Mike Phelan’s side.
Eric Dier dropped back to join Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in what was a three-man back line that proved an instant hit.
In other Tottenham team news, this is why Spurs must make a January swoop for the final player recommended by Paul Mitchell.
