Tottenham have had a bid rejected for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial, according to a reliable journalist.

RMC Sport correspondent Mohamed Bouhafsi reported on his personal Twitter account on Saturday evening that Spurs have tabled made an offer to sign the 21-year-old.

However, Bouhafsi explained that Jose Mourinho’s side have knocked back the possibility of the forward, who is renowned for his electric pace, moving to north London this summer.

Bouhafsi also claimed that Inter Milan have had a loan-to-buy offer for Martial rejected by United.

The 21-year-old forward’s future at United has been in doubt as Jose Mourinho appears to prefer wide players that will play with more defensive discipline than the French international.

Nevertheless, the Portugese appears to regard the 2015 summer signing as a key member of his squad ahead of the team’s Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday.

Martial has scored 25 goals and supplied 17 assists from 91 United appearances, with the club predominantly using him in a left-flank role.

The offer for Martial comes as Tottenham look to secure up to three signings before August’s transfer deadline in just three weeks.

The Premier League 2016-17 runners-up begin the new campaign at Newcastle United on Sunday.
