Southampton have won the race to sign Lille attacking midfielder Sofiane Boufal, according to a report.
The Daily Star claim that the Saints are close to completing a £15million deal for the 22-year-old midfielder who was previously a target of Tottenham and Liverpool.
The report says that Southampton had previously had a £12.5million bid rejected and the deal looked unlikely, but returned with an improved offer for the upcoming Morocco international.
France Football claimed at the start of August that Spurs had turned their attention to Boufal after a change in ownership at Marseille delayed their transfer of Georges Kevin-N’Koudou.
It had been reported earlier in the window that Boufal was also attracting Liverpool with Klopp scouting the young prospect several times while Spurs were also monitoring the highly rated Lille winger.
It was said that Mauricio Pochettino was in pole position to sign the France-based speedster.
The youngster’s performances over the last year have alerted a host of Premier League clubs.
The Lille attacking midfielder enjoyed a successful year in France last season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 35 encounters helping his side finish in fifth place.
The Morroco international joined Lille for £3million from then-Ligue 2 club Angers in January 2015, signing a four-year deal.
In other Tottenham transfer news, their former striker heads to the Indian Super League.
