Leeds fans expressed their relief on Twitter after attacking spearhead Chris Wood scored a sublime overhead kick to clinch a 1-1 draw against Fulham and save Garry Monk’s blushes.

The striker had come under increasing pressure after a disappointing start to the season, and was taking a lot of stick from the Whites’ fanbase.

However, the New Zealand captain’s spectacular finish has stopped the rot at Elland Road and given Monk his first point as Leeds manager.

The vital equaliser has also given Leeds their first Championship point of the season after losing their first two games of the campaign against Birmingham and QPR.

Wood was Leeds top scorer last season, and this goal has pushed him to the top of the embryonic 2016-17 goalscoring charts once again, adding to his penalty against League One side Fleetwood.

Here are a selection of the messages from Leeds fans on Twitter:

Leeds travel to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, who lost to Championship newcomers Burton on Tuesday evening, as they look to generate momentum and push themselves up the table.

In other Leeds news, this striker is in impressive form after leaving Elland Road.
