Two Andy Carroll goals weren’t enough to prevent West Ham losing to Juventus – but Twitter paid tribute to the striker’s display on Sunday.

The Italian champions were visiting East London for a pre-season friendly, and a late Simone Zaza goal helped them win the match at the Olympic Stadium 3-2.

BT tweeted a clip of the Carroll’s second goal, which showed him rising above all Juve defenders to power Mark Noble’s cross past Gianluigi Buffon.

Carroll will be hoping to continue the form he produced at the end of last season, which included a memorable hat-trick against Arsenal in April.

Despite his form towards the end of 2015-16 campaign, Carroll missed out on a call-up to the England squad that flopped miserably at Euro 2016.

West Ham have made it clear they are in the market for a new striker to spearhead their assault on this season’s Premier League, but have thus far been unsuccessful.

Fans took Twitter to praise their Geordie star, as they expressed hope that it is merely the start of what is to come.

In other West Ham news, they are close to ending their left-back hunt after a player agrees personal terms.
