Heung-min Son will start in Tottenham’s first Champions League tie in five years against Monaco, and fans have praised the decision on social media.

Son, 24, starred for Spurs against Stoke this weekend as he scored a brace for the north London club.

The South Korea international kept his place from the fixture as Mauricio Pochettino implemented one change to the side that ran out 4-0 winners at the Bet365 Stadium four days ago.

Erik Lamela replaces Victor Wanyama to allow for a more attacking formation to be played against the french outfit.

Supporters on social media rejoiced at Son’s inclusion in the line-up while one fan suggest he was as good as Ronaldo.

Here is a collection of the best messages posted to Twitter regarding the decision:

Son spent much of last season on the periphery at White Hart Lane but has found goal-scoring form this term.

The forward has now bagged 10 goals and six assists in 41 matches in England but is in a constant battle for starting places with Harry Kane and summer singing Vincent Jannsen.

In other Tottenham team news, Spurs have omitted Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele from their team to face Monaco on Wednesday evening – and fans have criticised the decision on Twitter.
