Tottenham fans have reacted with disappointment on Twitter to their team being 2-1 down at the break against Monaco on Wednesday.

The French side took a two-goal lead in the Champions League clash at Wembley with clinical finishes from Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar as they took advantage of ragged Spurs defending.

But Toby Alderweireld gave the home side hope with a superbly-taken header from an Erik Lamela corner shortly before half-time.

Tottenham fans were not happy with the scoreline at the interval with one supporter believing the hosts were asleep throughout the first 45 minutes.

Here are a collection of Tweets in regards to Tottenham’s performance so far:

Fans of the north London club had been hoping for a better start to their Champions League campaign, having not qualified for the tournament since 2011.

The game was billed as one of the biggest fixtures of the season for Tottenham as they broke the record for the highest Champions League attendance ever in a Britian.

80,000 home fans watched on as Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell behind to Silva’s early strike and will be hoping for a change of fortunes in the second half.

In other Tottenham news, Harry Kane has said he is capable of playing in either a number nine or number 10 role for Tottenham.
