Barcelona have agreed to sign Samuel Umtiti from Lyon for a fee of £24.6million, according to a report.

French publication Lequipe claimed that the two clubs have agreed on terms after three weeks on negotiations.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino had confirmed that he was monitoring the versatile defender, but it now looks likely that they will miss out on the France defender to Barcelona.

Tottenham are believed to be looking for more options at centre-back with Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Kevin Wimmer their only three senior options for the two positions.

Spurs have also been linked with Iceland’s Ragnar Sigurdsson, as reported on Football Insider.

The Cameroon-born star has been a mainstay of the Lyon team that finished second in Ligue 1 this season and is able to play at either left-back or centre-half.

The defender came through Lyon’s youth system and starred in 38 encounters for the French club across all competitions during the 2015-16 season, he currently has three-years left on his contract.

Spurs have suffered a number of transfer blows in recent days after Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi opted on a move to London rivals Chelsea and Swiss striker Breel Embolo transferred to German side Schalke.

In other Tottenham news, Bournemouth are set to secure the signature of  striker Lys Mousset.
