Leeds midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has singled out teammate Alex Mowatt for praise after his side’s 2-1 win over Cambridge.
The Yorkshire giants ran out close victors at the Abbey Stadium on Monday evening with goals from Stuart Dallas and Mowatt cancelling out an Uche Ikpeazu opener.
Mowatt, 21, started the match in his side’s midfield, playing the full 90 minutes with a return of a goal and an assist.
His performance blew away large sections of the Leeds fan base and midfield teammate Vieira praised Mowatt’s performance on his personal Twitter account with three fire emojis on Tuesday evening.
Mowatt is a product of the club’s academy, marking his debut in August 2013 in a 3-1 victory over Doncaster.
He has gone on to play in 123 fixtures with a return of 13 goals and 13 assists.
Of those appearances, 18 of them have come in this campaign under manager Garry Monk, but he has played in just 13 of his team’s 25 Championship fixtures.
The youngster will now be keen to see more match time in the successful Leeds midfield in the league with Monk’s outfit sitting in fifth place.
They will take on close competitors Derby next at Elland Road on Friday, who sit in seventh and five points behind.
