Romelu Lukaku is expected to make his first pre-season appearance for Everton.
The Blues fly to Germany on Thursday afternoon and Lukaku is in line to play at least 45 minutes over the course of their two games in the Dresden Cup.
Manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that the Belgian forward will feature in the upcoming pre-season tournament.
“We take Romelu also to the tournament and we have to see what we can do with Romelu – but at least he will play 45 minutes,” Koeman told the Liverpool Echo.
Everton face Dynamo Dresden followed by either Real Betis or Werder Bremen in the competition and it will allow Koeman the first opportunity to see the 23-year-old in action.
The striker struggled for playing time during his last spell at Stamford Bridge and his woes were compounded after a penalty miss in the 2013 UEFA Super Cup final against Bayern Munich, which lost them the shootout.
Lukaku is in demand after scoring an impressive 25 goals in all competitions in what was a disappointing 2015/15 season under ex-manager Roberto Martinez.
Everton’s number 10, who moved to Chelsea from Anderlecht back in 2011, is himself Everton’s record signing, joining permanently from the west Londoners for £28million two years ago.
The Merseyside club are determined to keep hold of their talisman but may have a ready made replacement in Gerard Deulofeu if they lose Lukaku this summer.
