Crocked Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has revealed that games like Tuesday night’s win against Ludogorets is his motivation to return to full fitness.
The Gunners overcame a 2-0 deficit against their Bulgarian rivals to secure a 3-2 win, with Mesut Ozil scoring a wonderful third in the 87th minute to the delight of the travelling fans.
World Cup-winner Mertesacker has been sidelined since picking up a knee injury during pre-season against French outfit Lens, but could make an early comeback.
Mertesacker posted a video on his personal Twitter account to say that his recovery is going well, with Arsenal’s last-gasp Champions League victory giving him the incentive to regain his fitness.

Since the injury to Arsenal captain Mertesacker, manager Arsene Wenger has signed two new centre backs in England youngster Rob Holding and fellow German Shkodran Mustafi.
With Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny bedding in as a solid first choice, Mertesacker could find it tough to regain a starting spot in Wenger’s side.
A return to former sides Werder Bremen and Hannover 96 has been rumoured for the injury-prone star, but it seems that Mertesacker wants to return in the red and white of Arsenal.
In a recent interview with Spox he said that a contract extension at Arsenal was his main priority.
Wenger’s side next face Tottenham in the first hotly-contested North London derby on Sunday.
In other Arsenal team news, Piers Morgan has made this astonishing claim after watching Ozil’s winner.
