Liverpool are ready to offer Jordan Ibe in a player-plus-cash deal for Southampton’s Sadio Mane, according to a report.
The Sun claim that the 20-year-old winger could be used as a makeweight in Liverpool’s attempts to lure Senegal international Mane to Anfield.
The inclusion of Ibe in the deal could help ease negotiations between the clubs as neither Liverpool nor Southampton appear to be willing to back down from their individual valuations of the player.
The Merseysiders value Mane at around the £30million mark while Southampton are holding out for £40million.
Mane has staked his claim in the last two years to be one of the outstanding wide players in the Premier League and would provide Liverpool with a much-needed goal threat from an attacking midfield position.
He scored 13 goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in his debut campaign and followed it up with an even more impressive 15 goals and nine assists from 43 matches in 2015-16.
Ibe is contracted to Liverpool until 2020 and is believed to be viewed as one of the Merseysiders’ most promising youngsters, alongside a host of progressing talent at the club including Joe Gomez, Jon Flanagan and Divock Origi.
He bagged four goals and four assists in 41 first-team appearances in all competitions this season, and will be looking to improve upon those figures under Jurgen Kloppif he remains at Anfield next season.
The former Wycombe Wanderers man is said to be valued at £10million by the Reds.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Crystal Palace are weighing up a swoop for Christian Benteke.
