West Ham’s defensive duo Aaron Cresswell and Winston Reid have been named in Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week after impressing against Crystal Palace.

The duo kept Palace’s in-form attack at bay in Saturday’s tea-time encounter, as Manuel Lanzini’s goal was enough to secure the Hammers’ second win of the season with a 1-0 victory.

BBC pundit Crooks named the two defenders in his side despite Cresswell receiving his marching orders after a second yellow card with 15 minutes remaining.

The two Hammers defenders were picked as Slaven Bilic’s side kept just their second clean sheet of the season. They joined Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna in shutting out Palace’s attack, which includes a prolific Christian Benteke.

Lanzini’s goal has lifted Bilic’s side out of the relegation zone above Hull and Middlesbrough, and the East London outfit now sit in 15th place with seven points from eight games.

The narrow win will do the world of good to former Besiktas and Croatia manager Bilic, who was facing increasing pressure after five league losses.

Cresswell and Reid were picked alongside the likes of Chelsea trio N’Golo Kante, David Luiz and Victor Moses, while three Everton players have also been included in Ashley Williams, Maarten Stekelenburg and Romelu Lukaku.

In other West Ham news, co-owner David Gold has given this one-word verdict on Cresswel’s red card.
