Slaven Bilic is expected to make eight changes to the side which beat Accrington 1-0 in midweek, as they prepare for a clash against Southampton on Sunday.

One of those changes is forced with Arthur Masuaku damaging ligaments against the League Two side, while Sam Byram will be likely to come into the side at left-back to fill in for the Frenchman.

Adrian, James Collins, Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate, Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet will also be expected to make their returns to the starting eleven.

The Hammers lost 4-2 in their most recent league clash against West Brom, but defender Winston Reid has only recently returned to training following an injury, while youngster Reece Oxford has been used sparingly by Bilic.

This means that Collins and Angelo Ogbonna are likely to be selected in the heart of the Hammers defence for the second league game in a row.

Experienced full-back Alvaro Arbeloa and youngster Byram could start on either side of the centre-back pairing, helping the Hammers in both defence and attack against Southampton, who deploy wing-backs.

Additionally, the front trio of Antonio, Lanzini and Payet would look a threat to any Premier League side and they will be expected to create chances for Simone Zaza, who is still looking for his first goal following his loan move from Juventus in the summer.

The south coast club earned a 1-0 victory over West Ham the last time the two clubs met in February thanks to a Maya Yoshida goal.

The Hammers will be keen to avenge that defeat, while also kick starting their season after a slow start.

The clash is scheduled for Sunday at the London Stadium in the 4.00pm Sky Sports kick off slot.

In other West Ham team news, Bilic has revealed that defender Aaron Cresswell and forward Andy Carroll are expected to return after the international break.
