West Ham were comfortably beaten by Southampton on Sunday – and the club’s fans voiced concerns that Dimitri Payet could leave the club.
The Hammers suffered a 3-0 defeat at home in the Premier League, with Charlie Austin, Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse scoring the goals.
The club’s talisman Payet could not make an impact on the game and West Ham’s recent poor form continued.
They remain in the relegation zone in the league and have lost five of their opening six games.
West Ham supporters took to Twitter following the defeat to explain worries that Payet may now be looking to leave the club.
Payet was a crucial member of the West Ham side that finished seventh in the league last season, earning himself a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year.
The 29-year-old midfielder was in fantastic form last season, scoring 15 goals and supplying 17 assists in just 44 appearances.
He continued the impressive form with France at Euro 2016 and played a starring role in the competition as they finished runners-up to Portugal.
Spanish giants Real Madrid were linked with a move for Payet in the summer transfer window but the Frenchman opted to stay with the Hammers.
Slaven Bilic’s side face Middlesbrough in their next league game in what is a must-win game already.
In other West Ham team news, the club’s supporters reacted on Twitter to the performance of Simone Zaza against Southampton.
