West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Michail Antonio on an England call up, but questioned why Mark Noble isn’t involved.
New boss Sam Allardyce has named his first squad as England manager, as the nation prepare to take on Slovakia in a World Cup Qualifier.
Antonio joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in September 2015, but began his career in non-league football with Tooting and Mitcham United.
“I think he’s in outstanding form,” Allardyce told the FA website. “This is another lad with a great journey – it’s a fantastic journey that he’s been on, from non-league to now an international call-up.
“He scored nine goals in his first season and he’s a terrific athlete, a good crosser and a goalscorer.”
However, there is still no place in the squad for the Hammers captain Mark Noble, who some expected to be included with former West Ham boss Allardyce at the helm.
In other West Ham news, their fans react on Twitter to this player’s appalling performance against Man City.
