Cheikhou Kouyate scored West Ham’s landmark first two goals at the Olympic Stadium on Thursday evening – and fans of were overjoyed with the club getting off to a brilliant start in their new home.
West Ham faced Slovenian team NK Domzale in their first match at their new venue after leaving Upton Park last season.
The Hammers won the match 3-0 with a 4-2 aggregate result, after a 2-1 defeat in Slovenia in the first leg.
Kouyate’s two goals gave the east London side a huge advantage after the 26-year-old scored a quickfire double on the eighth and 25th minute marks to add to their away goal.
West Ham fans are clearly delighted that their side have got off to such a good start at their new home.
The Hammers were knocked out by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu at this stage of the Europa League last season, but manager Slaven Bilic is looking to create history at the new stadium and progress further into Europe next season.
The east London club ended their stay at the Boleyn Ground with a dramatic 3-2 win against Manchester United last season.
