Dimitri Payet provided another assist as France beat Holland 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Monday night- and West Ham fans were glad he was returning to the club injury free.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba opened the scoring for France, when his long range effort was parried by Dutch keeper Maarten Stekelenburg after 30 minutes.

Didier Deschamps side beat a timid Danny Blind’s Netherlands 1-0 in Amsterdam, as France topped group A with seven points on the road to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Payet was substituted after 67 minutes by his national manager and replaced by Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

Supporters lauded their star player for his brilliant piece of skill in the first half, with the playmaker constantly getting in good positions to trouble the Dutch backline.

One fan gave Payet the highest of plaudits by stating he is better than La Liga duo Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

While another supporter was pleased to see a player of Payet’s calibre playing for the east London club.
