West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight after Inter Milan defender reportedly arrived in London to undergo a medical at the club.

ESPN FC claim the Inter Milan left-back will discuss terms with the Hammers as he puts the finishing touches to the transfer.

This comes as West Ham manager Slaven Bilic admitted that his “priority” is to sign a new left-back following the injury that will sideline Aaron Cresswell for four months.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on his website on Tuesday night that West Ham were in talks with Inter about signing Santon on a loan-to-buy deal.

It is said that the Hammers have offered a loan fee of £460,000 for the versatile full-back with an obligation to buy him permanently at the end of the campaign for £5million.

The Olympic Stadium faithful reacted on Twitter in positive fashion as Slaven Bilic looks set to finally complete a left-back deal following an extensive search.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Santon, 25, has wide experience of the Premier League after spending four years at Newcastle from 2011 to 2015.

The former Cesena loanee, who joined Newcastle from Inter Milan back in 2011, has two years remaining on his San Siro deal, but is looking likely to leave the Italian giants as Roberto Mancini looks to continue his Inter revolution.
