West Ham have reportedly tabled a formal bid for Swansea striker Andre Ayew – and there was a mixed reaction on Twitter from their fans.

Sky Sports claimed that West Ham have submitted a formal bid of £20million for the Ghanian international as they continue to search for a new forward in this window.

Ayew was thought to have interested the Hammers last summer before eventually joining Swansea on a free transfer.

The Ghana international signed a four-year deal when he arrived, but could now be on his way out the door after West Ham made a bid that would shatter their £15million transfer record if it was accepted.

The Hammers fans were divided Twitter as to whether bidding so high for Ayew is in the club’s best interest.

West Ham have been very public in their pursuit of a top drawer frontman this summer and have reportedly failed in bids to bring AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette to the club.

Swansea have not decided whether to accept the offer and are said to be eager to secure attacking reinforcements before allowing Ayew to leave.

West Ham currently have forwards Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho to choose from, however the latter is being linked with a £16million move to West Brom by Sky Sports.

In other West Ham team news, a club legend has insisted that the club doesn’t have to sell its star players.
