New talks have taken place between West Ham and Juventus over a possible £15million deal for striker Simone Zaza, according to reports.

The Daily Star, citing the Guardian claim the Hammers held talks with Juventus on Wednesday over the signing of the 24-year-old Italy international.

Zaza has spent much of this season on the bench for the Italian giants but West Ham will still face a battle to acquire his services.

German outfit Wolfsburg have reportedly already submitted a £19million bid for the former Sampdoria forward but it appears no deal will be completed before the end of the European Championships.

Zaza, who came off the bench in Italy’s 1-0 win over Sweden and provided the assist for the winner, has distanced himself from the speculation, and said this week that he hopes to remain in Italy.

“I’ll assess my future after the Euros, but I hope to remain in Turin,” he said, as quoted by the Guardian. “I feel happy on a personal level, but not 100% because I think I can give more.”

Zaza, who scored five goals in just 19 league appearances this season, is contracted to Juventus until 2020.

One hurdle that could scupper any deal is the future of Alvaro Morata, as the likelihood of his return to Real Madrid could make the Serie A club less willing to part with another striker.
