Liverpool attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has taken to Twitter to congratulate Moussa Sissoko on his move to Tottenham.
The 27-year-old France international completed a sensational £30million move to White Hart Lane from Championship side Newcastle in the final minutes of the window on Wednesday night.
Wijnaldum, 25, also left Newcastle this summer to return to the Premier League at Liverpool and the pair were teammates at the north east club for a year.
“Congratulations with your move to Spurs! Wish you all the best,” said the Anfield attacker on his personal Twitter account.
Netherlands international Wijnaldum was also a target for Tottenham before he made the switch to Merseyside.
He played alongside Sissoko in the last campaign, as the Magpies suffered relegation after finishing in 18th place.
Sissoko moved to White Hart Lane with the clock ticking down before Wednesday’s deadline with the Frenchman involved in a saga between Tottenham and Everton battling for his signature.
However, the attack minded player eventually moved to north London and it is reported that he ignored phone calls from Toffees boss Ronald Koeman to sign a five-year White Hart Lane deal.
Spurs have signed five senior players as they prepare for an extended fixture list in the Champions League.
Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino has brought in Vincent Janssen, Victor Wanyama, Paul Lopez and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou alongside Sissoko, with the latter duo also joining on deadline day.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Paul Merson has hit out at Sissoko for ignoring the calls of Koeman on deadline day.
