Mike Williamson is set to undergo a Wolves medical after agreeing a move from Newcastle, Football Insider sources understand.
The centre-back has finalised the terms of an 18-month contract and the two clubs have agreed a fee of around £250,000.
A source close to the situation has told Football Insider that Williamson is poised to travel to Molineux on Thursday morning to complete the transfer.
Williamson had a short spell on loan at Wolves before Christmas, and impressed the Championship club during his five appearances.
The 32-year-old’s Newcastle contract expires in the summer and he is surplus to requirements under Steve McClaren.
Williamson is one of the club’s longest-serving players, joining from Portsmouth in January 2010. In total, he has made 171 appearances for the Magpies.
In other Newcastle transfer news, the north-east club have completed the landmark signing of Andros Townsend from Tottenham in a £12million deal.
