Football Insider sources have learned that Arsene Wenger is likely to favour the 24-year-old Pole ahead of David Ospina for the Saturday evening Wembley fixture.
Colombian Ospina has established himself as the first-choice Arsenal goalkeeper since the turn of the year and has conceded just five goals in the team’s run of eight consecutive Premier League wins.
But Wenger is expected to stick with Szczesny for the FA Cup this weekend after selecting the Poland international for the fourth round, fifth round and quarter-final wins over Brighton, Middlesbrough and Manchester United.
These are the only three matches Szczesny has played since being dropped in the wake of Arsenal’s 2-0 Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day.
Ospina was in goal for Arsenal’s third round FA Cup win over Hull City but has been overlooked in the competition since establishing himself as the club’s No1. The 26-year-old has started 12 consecutive Premier League matches as well as both legs of the club’s Champions League tie against Monaco.
