Wolves fans have praised goalkeeper Andy Lonergan on Twitter as he produced an array of stunning saves during their 3-2 loss to Derby.

The former Leeds shot stopper single handedly kept the scoreline down to just 2-0 during the first half of Saturday’s lunchtime kick off, as he kept out efforts from the likes of Darren Bent, Tom Ince and Jacob Butterfield.

Interim boss Rob Edwards has failed to provide the winning spark at the Molineux, after temporarily taking charge of the Midlands giants following the departure of Walter Zenga.

Wolves looked like a side bereft of confidence in the first half, as Tom Ince and Darren Bent struck in the first half to send the away support home happy.

But Wolves looked a different side after the break, as Rob Edwards and Helder Costa gave them hope.

Wolves fans took to Twitter to express their delight at the performance of Lonergan, but were dismayed at the performance of their side as they suffered their fifth loss in seven games.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The loss to Steve McClaren’s side means Wolves have now failed to win in seven games, as they sit just above the relegation zone in 17th place.

Costa and Edwards gave Wolves a lifeline in the second half, as they found the net past another former Leeds goalkeeper in Scott Carson. The scoreline remained at 3-2, though.
