Tony Xia has stated on Twitter that he has received the “best gift” for his incoming birthday, after Jonathan Kodjia’s late strike secured all three points for Aston Villa against Fulham.

Steve Bruce’s side have now recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season, following their 2-1 victory against Reading on Tuesday night.

Forward Kodjia scored for his third successive game, as the claret & blue club, secured all three points at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Here is Xia delivering his verdict on Villa’s back-t0-back wins on his personal Twitter account.

Xia, 39, who celebrates his birthday on October 26, appointed Bruce as manager, after sacking Roberto Di Matteo at the start of October.

That appointment has been a positive influence on the team, as the former Birmingham City and Hull City boss is unbeaten in his first three games in charge of the Midlands club.

Villa are now 16th in the table, with 17 points from 14 games, and six points off Bristol City, who hold the final play-off spot.

Bruce’s men travel to St Andrews next Sunday to take on their fiercest rivals Birmingham, in an eagerly awaited second City derby.

In other Aston Villa team news, manager Steve Bruce has explained how long he intends to stay at the Midlands giants.
