Multiple English clubs will want to sign Celtic sensation Jeremie Frimpong this summer, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Rangers and Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the 19-year-old has proven his huge potential after moving to Parkhead last year.

Frimpong initially joined the Bhoys as a hot prospect from Manchester City but the wide man, who can play right-back or wing-back, has emerged as a first-team regular for manager Neil Lennon.

Hutton believes that clubs from south of the border will be well aware of the teenager after his breakthrough campaign, admitting the youngster is exactly what he wants to see in fellow full-backs.

Asked by Football Insider if there were going to be clubs in England circling Parkhead for Frimpong, Hutton said: "Oh, 100 per cent. That's the scouts for you - in Scottish football they look far and wide, whether it be young players in youth teams or experienced players.

"That's the way you have to be. You can find some diamonds in the rough and I think Rangers and Celtic have done very well over the past few years with them.

"He's definitely one for the future, he's very, very young, an exciting talent who's only going to get better."

Frimpong has played 19 times for Celtic this season, his first goal coming against Aberdeen in just his second league start.

He has had to battle it out with Austria international Moritz Bauer and Israeli star Hatem Abd Elhamed for a place at right-back under Neil Lennon.
