Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are set to be in a summer tug-of-war for Tottenham ace Hugo Lloris, according to a report.
The Express claim that the Spurs goalkeeper is being targeted by Premier League rivals United, who they have placed as their number one target if they lose David De Gea.
Meanwhile, it is understood that PSG are long-term admirers of the 30-year-old, who only agreed a new contract with Spurs in December.
The report details that both European giants could offer substantially more than the current £100,000-a-week he earns at White Hart Lane.
Lloris has become a crucial first team player for Spurs since his arrival from Lyon in 2012 and racked up 203 appearances for the north London club.
The France international is the number one option in Mauricio Pochettino’s side and has played a major role in their success this season.
He has played 35 times so far this campaign and managed to keep 14 clean sheets.
Football Insider verdict:
Pochettino is building a very strong squad at Spurs and it’s imperative he keeps his star players during the summer window, with Lloris certainly one of them. They are on the brink of winning league titles after challenging in the past two seasons and their youthful squad just needs time. Lloris is one of the few senior players in the dressing room and is the captain of the side. The 30-year-old has proven to be in the top bracket of goalkeepers during the past couple of seasons and the reported interest from big clubs comes as no surprise. He is very comfortable in possession, a great shot stopper, and intelligent with his position. Spurs would struggle to bring in a player of his quality of Lloris leaves and must keep him at the club.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club have terminated the contract of a defender.
