Krasnodar forward Feder Smolov wants to sign for West Ham before the World Cup starts, according to a report.

Sky Sports claimed in their live transfer blog on Thursday [11:14am] that Smolov, 28, is valued up to £13million by Kransodar, who currently sit fourth in the Russian top-flight.

It is understood that the Russia international is due to leave his club this summer and is also attracting attention from Marseille.

However Sky reports that Smolov would rather move to London after talks were staged over the goal machine joining West Ham last summer before a deal broke down.

Smolov has been in sensational goal scoring form over the last few seasons, netting 61 goals in 93 appearances across all competitions since signing for Krasnodar in 2015.

The 30-times Russia international has 12 goals in 30 caps for his nation and is expected to be one of their key players in their home World Cup this summer.

Football Insider verdict

Smolov's goal record speaks for itself and at £13million, he would be quite a good signing for West Ham, especially if he can replicate his form in England. Not many Russians have switched to England and become a huge success. Most of the Russia national team play in their home nation so it would be a bit of a risk to take on Smolov. But still in today's market, £13million is a great fee, especially when David Moyes signed Jordan Hugill from Preston for £10million. The fact that Smolov is very interested in this move also is a great plus for the Irons.
