Championship club Derby County are interested in signing Everton winger Ademola Lookman on a season-long loan deal, according to a recent report.
The Mail has revealed that Derby manager Gary Rowett is keen on recruiting the 19-year-old but only on loan.
The newspaper reported on their website that the Championship side is focussed on adding pace to his attack after the club sold Tom Ince to Huddersfield Town at the beginning of July.
It is understood that Toffees boss Ronald Koeman could be reluctant to let the young starlet go this summer as winger Aaron Lennon is reportedly looking into spending a season on loan with Watford.
Lookman moved to Goodison Park from Charlton in January this year in a deal worth over £7million and has since made nine appearances for Koeman’s squad.
The teenager impressed after he scored his only goal on his debut against Premier League giants Manchester City.
Football Insider verdict
Sending Lookman out on loan for the upcoming season would be an incredibly wise move on Ronald Koeman’s part. The year of experience in the Championship with valuable playing time will prove favourable to the teenager’s development and growth. Time with Derby County will mean the England Under 20 will be more experienced and raring to move up to the top flight. His return would also coincide perfectly with Aaron Lennon’s contract expiration meaning he could slot into the Merseyside squad comfortably. Common has had a good and clear judgement with transfers so far during the summer, and it looks as though his approach will be no different when it comes to Lookman’s future.
