Stan Collymore makes bizarre claim about West Ham fans
By Guy Giles
Stan Collymore has slammed David Moyes as “toxic” as the Scot looks odds-on to become the next West Ham manager, and followed this up with the bizarre claim that the West Ham fans “need a cuddle”.
He also said they should appoint Sam Allardyce as manager, albeit as a temporary measure until the end of the season.
In a column for the Mirror, Collymore has lambasted the club’s seemingly imminent decision to appoint former Manchester United boss Moyes as their new manager, claiming he will struggle to turn the club’s fortunes around.
He said: “David Moyes is such a flat, dejected type character that will never get a chance if he has two or three bad results.
“West Ham fans need a cuddle and to feel as if there is someone to rally around. Moyes isn’t that man.”

While Moyes’ appointment has yet to be confirmed by the club, reports suggest that the top brass are moving quickly to replace Slaven Bilic, with the Scot expected to take charge on Tuesday.
Collymore has claimed the club should instead look to former boss Allardyce as their next manager, even if it is on a short-term basis.
He said: “Maybe they should just give him a couple million quid until the end of the season and say ‘right you’re only staying until the end of the season, we’re going to make it worth your while.’
“He is a big, jolly fella, big smile on his face, much more relevant in terms of Premier League football and getting teams out of trouble than Moyes is.”
Once the season is over Collymore thinks West Ham should look for a “young hungry coach from around Europe who can take this club on.”
In other West Ham news, Tony Cascarino has also spoken out against the imminent appointment of David Moyes.
