A much-changed Arsenal side took maximum points against Southampton on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League at the Emirates, with a 3-2 victory in an end-to-end game.
A goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a Danny Welbeck brace were enough to seal the victory for Arsene Wenger’s side after Shane Long and Charlie Austin had threatened to spoil the afternoon for the Gunners and were a constant threat.
And even Alex Iwobi put in a good shift, but that didn’t stop him from getting slaughtered by some of his own fans on Twitter.
The Nigerian born attacker has been criticised by Gunners fans for the frequency he loses possession of the ball, as well as his inability to find the back of the net.
One supporter even said that the 21-year-old might be the worse professional footballer around – harsh criticism for the forward but it is to be said that statistically, the fans have grounds for their concerns.
Two goals in 31 appearances for the North Londoners isn’t enough for an attacker at a club the size of Arsenal and the fans know it.
After the win against the Saints, the Gunners faithful took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the player.
Here is a selection of responses on the social media platform on Iwobi’s display:
Iwobi is a mid table squad player

Anyone who still thinks Iwobi’s future is as a #10 are deluded. Constantly picks the wrong pass and holds onto the ball too long. Still lots of talent there that needs proper coaching but not a 10 IMO. #AFCvSFC #ARSSOU #AFC

I agree and have credited Iwobi in that move. It’s about time he did something productive! Welbeck has played well yes 👍👍

Iwobi has very few good games tbvh. He's just lucky to be loved by Wenger.
