Celtic need to make some changes to their squad in the summer, to ensure that they qualify for the Champions League group stages for the third season in a row.
One area of the team which may well have to be rebuilt in the summer is the defence, and a player that the Hoops should consider selling is Jozo Simunovic.
The 23-year-old Bosnian has had a very up and down career in his time at the Hoops, as injuries kept him out of the team for months at a time, then he became a vital part of the side which won the treble, then he found himself dropped following some awful performances.
There is a feeling that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers doesn’t trust Simunovic, even though he signed a new contract last year.
He is the only defender to be dropped from the side – after the 4-0 loss to Hearts in December – whilst Dedryck Boyata has been an almost ever-present despite some very ropey performances.
There is also the issue of Simunovic’s poor performances, as after getting back into the side following the disaster v Hearts, he lost his place in the team again after a dreadful performance against Zenit in the Europa League.
When you consider all the issues outlined above, if the Hoops are able to get around £8-10million for the player they should jump at the chance, as it seems that the player will never recapture his form of last season.
