Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths is the Hoops player most likely to be leaving the club in the near future, according to transfer experts Football Whispers.
The transfer site – that monitors all global transfer news and grades deals in terms of how likely they are to happen – has Griffiths at the top of the table, with a rating of 3.2 out of 5 to depart the Bhoys.
Interestingly, the team the site reckons is most likely to sign the hitman is recently relegated to League One fallen giants Sunderland.
Griffiths, 27, could be the odd man out up-front for the Hoops next season after the permanent arrival of Odsonne Edouard.
Football Insider verdict
Previously you would have said that Leigh Griffiths was never going to leave Celtic, but the permanent signing of Odsonne Edouard might well have changed all that. Griffiths now looks certain to become the Hoops third choice striker, behind the record-breaking signing Edouard and Moussa Dembele. Griffiths could well become frustrated if he is not given a run in the team, and perhaps a move to Sunderland might appeal to him. He would no doubt score plenty of goals in League One, and would become a hero if his goals could help the Black Cats return to the Championship. If Griffiths does leave the Hoops would no doubt bring in another striker, but his chances could end up being as limited as Griffiths’. Brendan Rodgers would no doubt rather keep Griffiths at the club, but if the player wants to feature each week he might have no other choice but to let the player move on.
